You Skin Can Hear ?

Not only the sense of touch, skin it can also be heard. How?

Sound around you it can not only be heard through the ears but also the skin. The new findings are known from experiments conducted by a team from the University of British Columbia, Canada.

Experiments involving the participants, to listen to some of the exhaled syllables in the skin. Blowing it triggers the brain to receive and integrate information from various sources to describe the situation around.

"Based on the facts, we have eyes that we think can see all the information, then we also have ears to hear the information. This is actually a bit misleading," said Bryan Gick, a researcher from the University of British Columbia..

"It takes more explanation, to understand that we have a brain that received more information than the eyes and ears," added Gick.

Gick terms human capabilities with "whole-body perceiving machines". According to Gick, in some previous studies showing that many of our eyes can see the voice and ears could hear the light, though sometimes unconsciously.

Other studies have shown if you see someone's lips move as she spoke, part of the brain associated with hearing loss will be active. To find out how the skin can hear the research team focused on the syllable "pa", "ba", "da" and "ta" which makes a small explosion in the air when a person speaks.

Participants who closed his eyes and listened to recordings of four men who say these syllables. They are required to press the button indicating that the voice be heard (pa, ta, ba or da). Participants were divided into three groups, first group listened to the syllables in the air as he breathed his hand, the second group of air blown on the neck and the third group was not blown air.

As many as 10 percent of participants did not press the right buttons, when the air blown on the skin. Experiments show more participants can learn the sound issued with a touch of the skin compared with a gust of air through the sound.
