Time for Clean Water Care

The event is to remind the importance of clean water and healthy, especially for children.

Clean water increasingly difficult to obtain. To be more and more people care about clean water, Aman Tirta, one of any programs the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), provides placement facilities clean drinking water tank and a sink in five primary schools in North Jakarta. The event is held at the same time welcomed the World Water Day, 22 March, which aims to remind the importance of clean water and healthy, especially for children.

World Health Organization revealed that the three causes of an unhealthy environment, such as poor sanitation, poor hygiene and contaminated food or water.

WHO issued the data, from a hundred million people of Indonesia, approximately 40% of the population, have no access to safe drinking water consumed. Because of that, not surprisingly, that no clean drinking water contributes to one fifth of deaths of children under five every year because of diarrhea. The disease is a killer of children number two in Indonesia.

Thus, to 'cut' numbers casualties caused by diarrhea, Aman Tirta working with Helping Hands (social program Students from the Jakarta International School high school level) provides a filter tank facility ground water for five elementary schools in North Jakarta. The function will filter the water tank of land, to decent drink, and to wash hands.

Why in North Jakarta? According to Robert Ainslie, Chairman of Aman Tirta Progam, "After getting the data from the Department of Health Jakarta, was the victim of the highest diarrhea occurred in this area. Moreover, most victims are children. Therefore, we began a program of primary school, "he said in the placement of the first water tank on the SDN 03 Pagi, Ancol, North Jakarta.

After this, the tank facilities will also be given to other primary schools, such as Ancol SDN 01, SDN 02 West Pademangan, SDN 09 Kalimalang East, West Pademangan SDN12. And, floating library built PT Freeport Indonesia in Kelurahan Kapok, Cengkareng West Jakarta. Funds are used for each school by 70 million. Ainslie claims these funds obtained from various donations.

The event was also attended by U.S. ambassador, Cameron R. Hume, who said, "We must give priority to education and health of school children. And, health itself begins with clean water. The event aims to reduce the number of people difficult to get access to clean drinking water and healthy.
